MOM jeans

Not-so-flattering, high-waisted, tapered denim - MOM jeans.

Twenty years ago, they were just the jeans that were fashionable at the moment—light blue wash, waistband near the natural waist, and 100 percent cotton. They started disappearing from shops in the late 90's when the Britney Spears low-rise flares era began. And then in 2003, unfashionable denim was turned into something special, when Saturday Night Live aired its famous ad for Mom Jeans, too funny hahaha, see here.

Now, mom jeans are getting more popular every season. All-cotton jeans get better with age and you can put them in the dryer, while the stretchy stuff in skinny jeans wears out quickly and often creates weird pulls in the crotch and on the bum (well at least my skinny ones from Topshop always last only few months). It has become a huge hit from designers like J Brand, NSF and The Row to the high street brands like Topshop,
